What a Mobile Mechanic Can Do

Routine servicing and many common repairs do not need a workshop. The mechanic brings the tools and parts to you.

Servicing and Oil Changes

An interim or full service carried out where the car is parked, with the oil and filters changed and the service book stamped.

  • Oil and filter change
  • Fluid levels checked and topped up
  • Service record completed

Engine Diagnostics

If a warning light is on, the mechanic can read the fault codes and tell you what is behind them before you commit to any work.

  • Fault codes read and explained
  • Coolant and transmission fluid checks
  • Advice on what needs doing next

Brakes and Repairs

Brake inspection and repair, along with other work that can be done safely without a ramp, such as pads, discs and batteries.

  • Brake pads and discs inspected
  • Common repairs done on site
  • Larger jobs referred to a garage

What a Mobile Service Covers

The exact list depends on whether you book an interim or a full service, but these are the usual checks.

Oil and filter change
Brake inspection
Fluid levels topped up
Tyre condition and pressures
Battery and charging check
Lights and wipers
Engine diagnostics scan
Service book stamped

Why Use Tugvan for Mobile Servicing?

The Car Stays Where It Is

No dropping the car off and no waiting for a courtesy car. The work happens on your driveway or in your car park.

Compare Before You Commit

You see offers from mechanics near you and choose, rather than accepting whatever the first garage quotes.

Told What Is Needed

If something is found that cannot be done at the roadside, the mechanic will tell you what it is rather than working around it.

Where Can We Work on the Car?

Mobile Service FAQs

The questions drivers ask us most before booking a mobile mechanic.

An interim service covers the essentials, mainly an oil and filter change along with safety checks such as brakes, tyres, lights and fluid levels. A full service adds further checks and replacement items, so it takes longer and costs more. If you are not sure which one is due, the mechanic can advise based on your mileage and service history.

Servicing carried out on schedule by a qualified mechanic using parts of the correct specification should not in itself invalidate a manufacturer warranty, and keeping the paperwork and stamped service record matters. Warranty terms vary between manufacturers, though, so if your car is still under warranty it is worth reading your terms or asking the manufacturer before booking.

Yes. Anything that needs a ramp, a lift or specialist workshop equipment is not a mobile job. That includes wheel alignment, major engine or gearbox work, exhaust replacement and most bodywork. If the mechanic finds work of that kind, they will explain what is needed so you can arrange it with a garage.

It depends on the service and the vehicle. An interim service is usually a good deal quicker than a full service, and extra repairs add to the time. The mechanic can give you an idea of how long they expect to be when they confirm the booking.

That depends on the offer you accept. Oil, filters and other consumables are normally part of a service, while replacement items found during the checks, such as brake pads or a battery, are usually quoted separately. Check what is covered before you agree to the work.

Somewhere flat, safe and with enough space to work around the vehicle and open the bonnet, such as a driveway or a parking bay. Multi-storey car parks with low headroom, busy carriageways and sloping ground are not suitable. Tell us where the car is when you book and we will say whether it can be worked on there.
